A Birthday Card for My Dad

My dad's birthday is on March 1st, and I actually remembered to make him a card this year. For some reason, his birthday always sneaks up on me. Anyhoo, I made this card last weekend, but I still haven't mailed it, what with giving birth and being in hospital and everything, so it will be a bit late, but the thought is there, right?

Supplies (all CTMH): patterned paper and Chocolate and Colonial White cardstock from Twitterpated Level 2 paper pack, Exclusive Inks stamp pads in Chocolate, Sweet Leaf, and Crystal Blue, ribbon from Chocolate Ribbon Rounds, Hello There and Say It In Style My Acrylix stamp sets, Natural Hemp, Wishes card pattern book

Introducing...

Well, I finished a birthday card for my dad on Saturday, and I was going to blog it on Sunday, but SOMEBODY had different plans! After what turned out to be a 14 hour ordeal (from first contraction to end result), Brenna Quinn McCleary joined our family. Isn't she beautiful? I think I had an hour of sleep last night, so it may take a while before I get back into the swing of things here in blogland, so hang in with me, loyal followers!

Design Dollies Card

Here is my attempt at a card using the colours from the Design Dollies challenge blog for this week - lavender, grey and white. It's a 5x7 card, very much inspired by one from page 81 of the Close to My Heart Idea Book. It uses a pattern from Wishes called Bullseye. What do ya think?

Supplies (all CTMH): White Daisy cardstock, Say It In Style My Acrylix stamp set, White Daisy embossing powder, White Daisy edge anchors and brads, Hydrangea watercolor pencil, and Blending Pen

Other: lavender cardstock, grey cardstock from Bazzill, mulberry paper (saved from a wedding invitation), twill, white acrylic paint from DecoArt, Versamark Ink, buttons, and fibers from Maya Road

2010 Layout Challenge #12

I loved the colours from the Design Dollies colour challenge this week: lavender, white, and grey, and I thought these pics would go great with those three. Don't you think the red just adds a nice bit of pop?

So last year we had Ailis in Jackrabbits ski lessons, and she really took to it. She had the best attitude of any little kid there, was always smiling and laughing and having a great time. This year, it was a complete 180 degree turn - pouting, crying, etc. We didn't know what to think! Oh well, she only just turned 5, so what are ya gonna do! We'll try again next year, maybe just on our own without lessons, and see what happens.

Supplies (all CTMH): White Daisy cardstock, and Intrinsic Backgrounds and Moments in Time My Acrylix stamp sets

Other: grey cardstock from Bazzill, lavender cardstock, Versamark Ink, silver embossing powder, letter tiles from Hot Off the Press, metal photo corner, buttons, and embroidery floss

2010 Layout Challenge #11

The last time I was at my in-laws place, I saw this photo of me and my not-yet hubby in one of those folding frames they give you when you get your portrait done like this. I had totally forgotten that we had done this! It was the summer of 1998, I had just graduated from UBC and moved back home to Williams Lake to explore my options, and one of my friends came up to visit from Vancouver. Jason and I decided to take her out to Barkerville, and this was one thing we did. I think we look pretty cute, especially Jason! Mmmhmmm, he would've made a cute cowboy! I wanted to use a song title for my page title, and it took forever to think of one, but one night I was listening to Prime Country (not my favourite, but Jason's going through some sort of country phase) and this song came on. It's by Tim McGraw, and it's all about how things were "back when". The lyrics are pretty funny, actually! As for journalling, I think I will write on some tags and stick them in behind the left side of the photo.

Supplies (all CTMH): Grace Level 2 paper pack, Exclusive Inks marker and stamp pad in Cocoa, Tender Tags, The Works Alphabet, and Felicity My Acrylix stamp sets, pewter brads, White Daisy embossing powder, Reflections book

Other: Versamark ink, lace from Prima

Date Night

So last weekend Jason fell asleep not even a half hour into our date night. He's usually not that bad, and makes it to bed at least! I thought he looked kinda cute there, so I had to snap some pictures. A few minutes after I took them, he woke and said, "Did I fall asleep?" Uh, yeah! Basically, this layout came together pretty quickly, but I decided to back-stitch the lines on the journaling block, an idea I got from the newest Canadian Scrapbooker magazine. That took a while, but I think it looks pretty cool. Well, off to watch the first episode of the new Survivor! (I have high hopes!)

Supplies (all CTMH): Vanilla Cream cardstock, patterned paper from Caprice and Notebook Level 2 paper packs, Chocolate Alphabet Large and Intrinsic Backgrounds My Acrylix stamp sets, Exclusive Inks stamp pads in Crystal Blue, Chocolate and Cocoa, Exclusive Inks marker in Cocoa, My Stickease from Caprice Level 1 and Level 2 packs

Other: embroidery floss, date stamp

A Princess Party

My daughter's birthday is on Valentine's Day, and she's turning 5! I can't believe it! My baby's a big girl now! Anyway, she's been planning her birthday party for about 8 months now (seriously, her best friend from day care has been talking about this birthday party since May!) and she's decided on a princess party. Well, after searching online for hours for inspiration, here's what I came up with for invites. Of course, my printer decided to die, so my helpful husband printed it at his office, but he would only use regular paper, so that's why you can see the ink through the paper. Oh well, they're done! Hopefully the party can live up to the hype of the invitation...

Supplies (all CTMH): Chocolate Alphabet (large) My Acrylix stamp set, Exclusive Inks stamp pads in Creme Brulee, Blush, and Smokey Plum, White Daisy organdy ribbon
