"Live in the Sunshine" for Let's Capture Our Memories

Hi everyone, I've been playing with my Counterfeit Kit again and came up with this fun, summery layout.

I used this sketch from "Let's Capture Our Memories" for inspiration:
I didn't follow the sketch exactly, partly because my photos were a lot larger than those in the sketch.  I also decided to forgo the embellies at the bottom because I thought they wouldn't show up on my busy patterned paper.

Here's a close up look at my journaling, as well as one of the fussy cut flowers I coloured with the Gelatos from my kit:
And a closer look at the title detail at the top (I fussy cut the title piece as well!):
Thanks for stopping by!

"The Story" for LGS and CKC

Happy Sunday, everyone!  After spending yesterday in bed (stomach bug?) I was ready to get some scrapping done.  I had taken this photo of Brenna on a rare occasion when I didn't have to work and her daycare was closed- we went to Strongstart, which is something we used to do quite often pre-job, and she just LOVES to go!

I used products from my March Counterfeit Kit and this beautiful sketch from "Let's Get Sketchy":
The background paper seemed to work well as it already had designs in the two corners, so rather than cover those designs with paper, I opted to leave them as is.

I have this app on my phone where I can attach notes to photos, so sometimes, if I remember, I'll type out the story right after I take the photo.  Makes it waaaaay easier when it comes time to journal on a scrapbook page if the story is already there!

A close up of some of the journaling:
The doily used to be white, but I coloured it with one of the Gelatos from my March Counterfeit Kit.

The story I wanted to include was quite long, so after much deliberation and inspiration from the folks at Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog, I decided to journal around the edge of my page to make a border.  I quite like how it turned out!

And finally, a closer look at the little flags under the photo:
Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

"Cupcake Saturday" for Stuck?! Sketches and Counterfeit Kits

Here's a new layout I completed last night using my March Counterfeit Kit:
It tells the story of a relatively new tradition we've coined "Cupcake Saturday", where basically Saturday is the day we take one or more of the kids out for a treat.  We are fortunate to have a fabulous bakery in our little town, close enough to walk to, which is great on sunny days!

I really like how this page turned out, especially those gold doilies!  They're quite a bit more vibrant in real life:

I first used the gold Gelato from my kit, just colouring all over the white doilies and then smudging the pigment with a sponge.  It looked okay, but I decided to dazzle them up a bit more with some gold Heidi Swapp Colorshine - ooooh, sparkly!

I used this great sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:

I had a pretty tough time figuring out where to journal, though.  The background paper is gorgeous, but it's embossed so journaling on that wasn't going to work.  I thought about adding white journaling strips, but didn't like the look, so the story ended up on the patterned paper:

I just hope it's legible enough!

Thanks for stopping by to see my page, and I hope you have a wonderful day full of crafty goodness!

March Counterfeit Kit - "Sunny Skies"

Well, February was pretty much a write off as far as scrapbooking went!  With two birthday blasts, and now the flu running through the house, it's been pretty hectic, but now I'm ready to get some serious work done!  What better way to get motivated than to put together a kit?

Here's the kit the scrappy ladies at Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog have decided to copy:

Pretty, huh?  Here's mine:
I started with the papers, as usual, specifically the one in the back left.  (I apologize for the photo quality, but it's the best I could do with my dark living room!). The back row is all from Close to my Heart.  The next row down is all Simple Stories, except the last which is from Fancy Pants.  The third row has 1 Prima, 2 MME, 1 Echo Park, and one Carta Bella.  And the very front row is Amy Tan.  The last paper reminded me of the doilies in the original kit, so I chose it thinking I could fussy cut them or colour them.

Here's the rest of my kit, "Sunny Skies":
Bit of a hodgepodge, but basically I've got:

2 sheets of Echo Park Everyday Eclectic stickers and one partially cut up piece of patterned paper

Some die cuts from MME

Some die cut doilies, Polaroid frames, journaling cards and banners from the days when my computer was functional and I could use my Cameo

A stamp set, twine, wood veneer shapes, cork stickers, and washi tape from CTMH

Flair buttons from Studio Calico

Gelatos!  I don't have the exact colours of what was in the original kit, but close enough.

A little tin of orange buttons in lieu of sequins

Kraft tag stickers

Blue and clear gem stickers

Two rolls of glitter tape from Michael's

Whew, think that's it!  How about you, are you joining in this month?  You should, because I can't tell you how motivated I am to kill this kit, haha!  If you need a kick in the pants, you should give it a try, it's a fantastic stash buster!
