"We Were Here" for Sketch 'N' Scrap

Hey everyone, here's a fun page I finished last night using my June Counterfeit Kit and a sketch from Sketch 'n' Scrap.  You wanna know what makes me the most excited about this page?  I finally got to use my Cameo again!!!  When my computer died ages ago, I didn't realize how much I'd miss my nifty cutting machine, but yeah, miss it I did!

Here's the sketch I used:
I just love those sunburst lines in the background and knew right away which cut file I wanted to use.  I love the clouds, too.  Both details seemed to go well with the theme of my page, which was a family outing to the Vanderhoof Air Show last summer as part of Nolan's birthday celebrations.  I deliberately left journaling out, thinking that I'll do another page to accompany this one with the other (big) bunch of photos I have left from that day - maybe a pocket page?  What do you think?

And finally, a photo from Awards Day!  My girl Ailis won the award at her school for Jr. Academic Student of the Year!!!  Jason and I are so proud of her!

Well, I think that'll be it for me for June!  Five layouts in total with my kit, not too shabby if I do say so myself!  Thanks for stopping by.

"Absolutely Fabulous" for Stuck?! Sketches

Here's a sweet little layout I just finished with my June Counterfeit Kit and a couple of other challenges in mind.  That's my little Brenna Bean on her 5th birthday earlier this year.  It was her first real birthday party with friends rather than just family invited, and she was sooooooo excited!

Even though this page is not fully stacked with embellishments, I really love how it turned out, especially the die cut flowers and the colour combo.

Here's the sketch I used from Stuck?! Sketches:

Wow, I really loved this sketch as soon as I laid eyes on it!

The flowers I made from a Tim Holtz die with various patterned papers and some Stampin' Up brads.  They were made specifically with a challenge from the gang at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog in mind:

Challenge #1:  Patterned Die Cuts:  Use only PATTERNED PAPER to create a layered die cut for your project.

Fun stuff, I love these types of challenges!  This one completely changed the look of my page from what I might have made with pre-made embellishments.

Anyway, it's late on a Friday night, and I want to get a card made for a little boy's birthday party tomorrow, so I better get at it or I'll be forced to gift cardless (gasp!) or perhaps even buy a card (what?!)

"Do More of What Makes You Happy" for LGS

Well, I haven't done a page about my hubby for a while, and what better time to start than right around Father's Day?

I had printed these photos off my phone a while back, and they seemed to go together to show my man at his happiest.  He loves to be outdoors, whether he's working, or searching for trees to buck up for firewood, or enjoying a brewski in the sunshine!  I love how this one turned out, with the little bits up in the corner and the rather unorthodox mix of patterned papers from my June Counterfeit Kit.

Here's the sketch I used from Let's Get Sketchy:

I changed it up a bit, but basically maybe you can see how I was inspired?

So that's about it for now.  Still working on using up that kit!  Hey, are you on Instagram?  I've connected with a few of my scrappy friends over there, but if you check out my link over in the sidebar there and follow, I'd be happy to follow ya back!  Always some incredible inspiration over there, am I right?

"So Very Blessed" for Let's Get Sketchy

Hey folks, with this completed layout, I've surpassed what I thought I would accomplish this month, so that's good news!
The products I used are from my June Counterfeit Kit, although I added a stencil and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine to make the big triangle in the background .

Here's the sketch I used from Let's Get Sketchy:
And a close up of the journaling:
With these two being born seven and a half years apart, they don't usually have much to do with each other, so when they do snuggle up together, I just have to take advantage of the photo op!  You can definitely see the resemblance in their faces, too!

"So Loved" for Stuck?! Sketches

Using my new June Counterfeit Kit, this page came together quite handily!  I used this lovely sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:
I really love the packages of die cuts that manufacturers are putting out these days, they make embellishing a page a lot of fun!

Here's a close up of the journaling and some of those die cut accents:

And that's about it from me.  Normally I can ramble on a bit, but I'm a tad wiped from spending all day at the soccer field herding cats, ahem, pardon me, coaching and reffing, that I'm feeling just a wee bit lazy now!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thanks for looking!

June Counterfeit Kit

This month it seems like the ladies from Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog are doing something a little different.  Rather than copying a kit from a kit club, we've been tasked with copying one of the new lines from Basic Grey.  Here's the one I chose:
I was really drawn to the bright colours (I think everyone knows how much I love my brights!) and the geometric feel of some of the papers.  I also liked the idea of working some brown into my kit.  So, here are the papers I pulled from my stash:

Going from left to right, back to front, I have:

2 from Echo Park - "Paper & Glue"
3 from Simple Stories- "Vintage Bliss"
4 from MME - "Collectable"
2 from CTMH - I forget the name of the collection but it was a monthly promo kit
2 + a sticker sheet from Echo Park - "Everyday Eclectic"
2 from Kaiser Craft - "Take Note"

And here is a real mish mash of things that seemed to go:
Scraps of paper from CTMH and Simple Stories, wood veneer pieces from CTMH, brads from Stampin' Up, 2 packages of die cuts (one from Bo Bunny and one from Simple Stories), 2 bottles of acrylic paint, and a journaling card from Echo Park.

And that's it!  Kind of a small kit this month, but then again I'm not anticipating much crafty time in June, so maybe best not to be too ambitious.  I can always add more if need be!
