Anyway, here is my project:
These photos have been in my "To Be Scrapped" pile (do you have one of those?) for a while, and they were taken close to four years ago now, but honestly, they are the most recent snowy photos I could find! I love them, because they show us on one of our many family walks in one of my favorite places in the world, Dawson City. I'm not sure why I loved it there so much, as it's one of the coldest, darkest places you can even imagine, but there's no accounting for taste! A close-up of the journaling:
Uh-oh, I just realized I made a booboo on the last line there, and I wasn't even drinking! And here's a close-up of some misting I did using a doily as a mask:

I did this on purpose so I could put this layout in over at Scrapbooker's Anonymous - they want to see some masking this month, with paint, ink, or what have you. I wish it turned out a bit darker, but, on second thought, that might have been a bit overwhelming. I used white paint on all my paper edges for a bit of a snowy effect, and I also painted my chipboard letter stickers - some are green, others are pink, but you'd never know it! To finish it all off, I made some bling swirls with my IRock tool and a Bazzill template by two of the snowflakes. I was going to add a third by the far left snowflake, but my batteries were dying and I needed to get this in on time. What do you think, should I add more bling, or leave it as is?
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and please mark this challenge on your list of "To Enter" challenges for January - if you do, I'll love you forever!
Supplies: Coredinations and Bazzill cardstock, Echo Park patterned paper, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, Sakura pen, Imaginisce IRock tool and gems, Bazzill swirl template, Maya Road doily, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, unknown die cut snowflakes
Lovely lay out what a great way to remember a day like that.. Take Care
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Roxy! We are still waiting for snow down here. They are forecasting it to start falling this weekend and into next week which has of course sent the residents of the Lower Mainland into a panic of de-icer and snow shovel buying. LOL! As a former Northern girl, I laugh at the locals when it snows!!
ReplyDeleteI have decided to enter challenges again so may enter your snow challenge ... stay tuned. I would have to dig pretty far back into MY "to be scrapped" pile to find any pictures of snow though ... And I defy anyone to find a larger pile than mine!! :)
I finished a layout last night that I am completely in love with (and will frame I think) so I'm just waiting for some decent light so I can photograph it and post it. You have GOT to see it!! You'll swoon! :)
Oh, and -50?!?!?! I remember winters in PG where we'd have week long spells at -40. Brrrr .... glad those days are behind me.
Take care! Hugs!!
Love this Roxy!! I think this challenge is working because it's snowing here!! i'm so excited!! I love the misting too!! I have a "to be scrapped pile too, but it's so unorganized right now that it's a "to be organized then scrapped" pile!
ReplyDeleteI think the masking looks perfect. What a great 2 page layout! I like how you incorporated the bling with the snowflakes. Thanks for joining in the fun at Scrapbookers Anonymous!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes subtle masking is all that is needed. and your layout is fabulous. Love 2 pagers. they make me happy and I wish I did more of them. I remember when they were all the rage, because you had to have each side match.. lol. then some how, it became ok that things didn't match in your album.. us crazy scrappers. =)
ReplyDeleteany whos. I love the red/blue color scheme. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Scrapbookers Anonymous. =)
Roxy....I like your masking. I think the subtleness of it all over is just right. Its a nice addition to your patterned paper. So gald you played along with us at Scrapbookers Anonymous! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Rox!! I love what you have done with the IRock. I think the bling is good but you can never have too much bling right (:? The snowflakes are beautiful and I love the masking!!! I couldn't imagine living somewhere where the temperature went down to -50!!!! That's nuts!!!
ReplyDeleteI do have a to be scrapped container!! some were printed 3-4 years ago but now when I look back at them I am more inspired to scrap them because I see how much the kids have changed and grown and I miss those chubby little farts (:
I hope you had a good weekend!! Lee took some pics of the kids sliding last weekend so I will try to get a layout done up for the challenge.
Love this double pager. Using the doilies as a mask for misting gives a good snowflake effect. Thanks for joining in at Scrapbookers Anonymous
ReplyDeleteGreat layout! I love the colours you used...the pop of red is great! I could not live anywhere with -50 temps. The lack of sun is also a killer for me!. We have been really lucky this winter, very little snow and pretty mild temps. It's Saskatchewan though so when it does hit it will be harsh. I have some winter pics from last year still to scrap. I will try to get it done in time for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteStunning effect here! It really looks snowy!!! Gorgeous work!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous two pager, love the painted edges. Thanks for playing along at Scrapbookers Anonymous.xxxx
