If you are part of the Canadian Crafters Facebook group, then you probably read about how proud Sharon Greenaway is of her son Brandon - he's graduating from high school this month. Brandon has special needs, so his mom wants to make his graduation a very special occasion for him. She's appealed to our group, asking for willing crafters to send Brandon a key chain from their hometown. Since I worked with a group of special needs kids at the high school in Burns Lake in 2008, I've had a bit of a soft spot for those with developmental delays and difficulties. And now, having my son Nolan recently diagnosed with Asperger's, Sharon's request hits especially close to home. So, I searched all over 100 Mile House and finally found a key chain for Brandon (not much of a selection, I'm telling ya!) Then I sat down to create this card for him:
Here's a couple of close-ups (note the buttons and twine - added especially for the June Challenge at Seriously Creative Challenges, hope you can join in this month):
What do you think? I hope Brandon will like it, and because I thought the 100 Mile House key chain looked so boring, I decided to send him an Australian key chain as well. If anyone reading this would like to send Brandon a key chain, you still have time - leave me a comment and I'll pass the address your way!
I'm entering this card into these challenges:
DL.ART Thankful Thursday Challenge - Card for a man
Pixie Dust Studio - Use three or more patterned papers
Sassy Studio Designs - Use something wet (I used Glimmer Mist on my card base!)
Well, that's it for today! I'm feeling marginally better, but still a bit congested. Brenna's napping so maybe I'll go have a little snooze, too! But...probably the dishes need doing more. The dilemma of a stay-at-home mom!
Oh, PS - this card was entirely cased (and very blatantly) from this one I found on pinterest!

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice simple card (: I'll have to go check out the post on Facebook and send him a key chain from Sudbury. I don't think they make them for my hometown ):
