Here's a new layout I completed last night using my March Counterfeit Kit:
It tells the story of a relatively new tradition we've coined "Cupcake Saturday", where basically Saturday is the day we take one or more of the kids out for a treat. We are fortunate to have a fabulous bakery in our little town, close enough to walk to, which is great on sunny days!
I really like how this page turned out, especially those gold doilies! They're quite a bit more vibrant in real life:
I first used the gold Gelato from my kit, just colouring all over the white doilies and then smudging the pigment with a sponge. It looked okay, but I decided to dazzle them up a bit more with some gold Heidi Swapp Colorshine - ooooh, sparkly!
I used this great sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:
I had a pretty tough time figuring out where to journal, though. The background paper is gorgeous, but it's embossed so journaling on that wasn't going to work. I thought about adding white journaling strips, but didn't like the look, so the story ended up on the patterned paper:
Thanks for stopping by to see my page, and I hope you have a wonderful day full of crafty goodness!
Such a cute layout and what fun memories you are making with your children!

ReplyDeleteThis is a FABULOUS LO and an equally fabulous tradition. Makes me wish we had a bakery within walking distance! I love your doilies and I love how you used the arrow paper. I struggle with arrow anything on my LO's. It's nice to see such a simple use, one that made me go "DOH!".

ReplyDeleteWonderful take on the sketch!! I love the way you cut the photos with the rounded corners and matted them square with the dark background -- might have to incorporate that into a page soon. Love your balance of color with the black touches,...just FAB!
