Friends - an old layout, finally finished!

Do you ever start a layout, then put it aside for journaling or embellishing for a looooong time? I used to never do that, so I'm not sure why I do it so often now, but I'm trying not to lately. It's just too hard to come back to something after putting it away, I forget what I wanted to say, or the concept I was going with, or I'm just bored with it. But this is one I really wanted to finish, because these ladies hold a special place in my heart. You Canucks out there are used to long winters, but can you imagine 24 hour darkness? I'm not kidding, in Dawson City, we didn't get direct sunlight in our home for about 2 months. It can get you down if you let it, but these two were kind enough to let me into their scrapping circle, and we shared many a warm and cozy Wednesday night without husbands or kids, just female companionship. And for someone a tad shy and new to the area, it's always wonderful to be included! So thanks, Maria and Sonya, I miss you both a ton!

Supplies (all CTMH): Bella patterned paper and stickers, die cut circle, liquid glass, prisma glitter, gems, ink, and stamp set

Other: Maya Road ribbon, Michael's trim, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Sketchabilities sketch

  1. Fabulous layout Roxy, and a lovely way to celebrate your friendship! Love the colours and the embellishments.

Couldn't imagine living in 24 hour darkness, it's bad enough here when it's dull and grey and wet (which is quite often in England, although we have had unseasonably lovely weather just recently I must admit!)

  3. What a beautiful layout!!! I love the flourishes, it's one of my fav stamps sets! I have a box of half completed layouts. I have a hard time with the details. I feel pressed for time when scrapping so I don`t want to `waste`time struggling with the embellishing. It always get finished at one point :)

I don't know how anyone can go without sunlight for 2 months. I can barely make it through the winters in Saskatchewan.

My post on your book reviews was deleted when blogger had issues but if you go to www.chaptergeek.com I am under the name Raistlin. Hope you can come join us!!

  4. Lovely layout Roxy and equally lovely sentiment. I can't imagine going without daylight for so long! I bet you're glad you are alot farther south now!
How's the new place shaping up? I ran into a couple of ladies from Williams Lake recently and they asured me there are 2 scrapping stores in WL - so that's not too far from you. About as far as I drive to get to my "local" SS!! :)

  6. Hi Roxy, thanks for stopping by again!
Your story doesn't upset me or anything.. please feel free to share your experiences. But I will tell you this, what you told me is a familiar story. Mom's regular physician told her pretty much the same things. They gave her some kind of little test and then told her that there wasn't anything wrong with her. So for a long time she would argue with us when we told her she needed another opinion. But the doctors, no matter how smart, do not know your family better then you. If you see these changes then she needs to go to a neurologist. It took me, my sister, and my dad having to go to mom's doctor ourselves to get her a referral and make them listen to us. By the time we got her there though it was really too late to make much of a difference as far at the medicine goes. What mom has they call a visual-variance of Alzheimer's and it hits women early. Mom was in her early 50s when we started noticing the symptoms. So I would definitely be getting you mother-in-law to a specialist. Mom's doctors now say that if they had caught it earlier it wouldn't be so bad now.
Hopefully this helps a bit. And if you have any other questions at all.. feel free to ask on my blog... or email me if you want. People going through this need to stick together and help each other any way they can. Even if its just saying, "I understand". Because no one else does.
    Have a great weekend!
    Hugs,
    Hollie

  8. Oh Roxy, are you a superwoman or what, to produce this layout with all you have going on, you are my hero dear friend, not sure if I have told you that a road trip and accommodation for as long as you would like is just what I yearn for dear friend, I am so glad I have met you though design dollies. wow, I have a Rav 4 that is only just run in (so the mechanic says) it will be a great road trip to go on. Hervey Bay, although some dismal memories is a great place for us to visit, keep this in mind....save up, you are so welcome it is not funny, heaps of room, and wow Nate would have so much fun with B, we get dark about 6pm in Winter here and the sun is up at 5am so if you yearn those sunny days come for a visit. I will pick you up from the Bne International Airport, go on, think about it. I love you dear Canuck.....lol, you have a place to stay here in Queensland. Melx
