Here's a simple card I made for my brother-in-law Mike's 41st birthday. I realize it looks more like a St. Patrick's Day card, but if you knew Mike, you'd understand. Mike is a self-proclaimed Irishman. This is something I don't really understand. Yes, we have an Irish last name, but I think this branch of the McCleary clan has been in North America for something like 200 years. And yet Mike embraces everything Irish from the history to the literature to the sports, and of course, the beer. (And he's single, so if you're in the lower mainland and know a single Irish girl who likes cops and rugby, let me know, please! Our kids need cousins!) I just printed out this clip art image of a beer mug and a totally appropriate sentiment from Graphicat Designs, then layered them both up on a 5x5 base. What do you think of the bottom layer? It's a mesh bag from avocados! (Thanks to Karen B for that idea!) I sprayed the whole thing with some Perfect Pearls Mist, but you can't see it in the photo, unfortunately.
Anyway, Jason found this T-shirt for Mike in Kamloops:
Dropkick Murphys, apparently a real band that Mike actually listens to! Hopefully he likes his present and card!
Challenges I'm entering this card in:
Pile It On: use lots of layers (that background layer is mesh from an avocado bag!)
Sweet Sketch Wednesday: use this sketch:
Graphicat Challenges: Use a sketch, any sketch (the sentiment is also from Graphicat)
Creative Stamp Friends: Card for a man
Supplies: CTMH cardstock and brads, Kaiser, K&Co, and American Crafts patterned paper, Graphicat Designs sentiment, Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist, avocado bag
Fab card - what a fun sentiment! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Pile It On!

Oh Roxy your Brother In Law will love his Irish card. My husband is Irish and it's not all true what they say about the Irish he hardly ever drinks. I love your card awesome image and wonderful design papers and embellishments. You'll have to send your B-I-L to New Zealand we have the world cup Rugby here at present and we have plenty of single Irish girls living in New Zealand. Wow Irland beat Australia on Saturday night wow it was a great game. Great job and thanks so much for sharing your card with us at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and good luck.

What a great card...I love the texture of the mesh :) I'm sure it will be a hit!
ReplyDeleteOh this is a cool card - funny sentiment too! Great work! :D
ReplyDeleteI think it is so darn clever of you to have used that avocado bag on the background - such great texture it adds and lots of interest too. Great card! Thanks for joining us at Sweet Sketch Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteLove your Irish card and the colors and papers are so sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteArlana@SSW!!!
Hilarious card! It is sure to bring laughs! lol
ReplyDeleteThe lipstick you asked about is the Revlon colorburst. I had never tried it before.. I think its more of a gloss then actual lipstick... I'm not too crazy about lipstick, I think it looks goofy on me haha. I tried some last night after buying it and really liked it. It was the 012 Orchid shade, and it was slightly tinted. Not very noticeable though, but thats what I liked about it. It was just really shiny. :)
I can actually get more with that deal, so I think I am going to get some more of it today.. haha.
I couldn't imagine not being in control of the grocery shopping, we would be broke if Shannon did it all! lol We actually used to go together all the time, but after I started couponing, I'm by myself. I think he gets embarrassed about the coupons lol. Funny thing is, he sure isn't embarrassed about all the great food we have now. :D
Anatomy is going okay... but we have another exam in a couple of weeks!! And this one is over the bones!! I can't wait until this is over... but I have some hard months ahead of me. Anatomy 1 this semester, Anatomy 2 next, and then I have to take Microbiology over the summer!!! Thankfully though, I will have next fall semester to relax before starting the nursing program Jan 2013 (If I am accepted!! fingers crossed!). I did talk to the head of the department the other day and she talked like I was a very strong candidate for it. So hopefully, it all goes good. Its a very competitive program down here, especially since there really isn't a wide range of career choices for this part of KY.
Well, I will stop rambling on and on...
Have a great week, Roxy!!
Hugs,
Hollie
Oh btw, how is your MIL? Hope everything is going alright!!
