Drunken Stampers #96

Oh my, I truly apologize for the quality of this photo.  Another thing I seem to have misplaced during the move is my camera battery charger - two of them, actually!  So I took this photo with the phone, and, blech!  Doesn't do the colours of this card justice at all!!!

Anyway, the inspiration for this card comes from the challenge this week at Drunken Stampers, which is to use a bird(s) on our card.  I had the paper and scraps out from my last layout (Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic collection) and wanted to use a bit more (I really love that cloud paper!) so I looked up a Page Maps card sketch:

and came up with this.  I almost didn't post this card at first, I really didn't like it!  The elements all seemed to blend together, but then I outlined everything in black pen, and that seemed to fix it up a bit.  I don't know, what do you think?

Well, just went to an Open House at the school, and everybody's very friendly and welcoming here! It seems like both Nolan and Ailis are doing well with their school work and making friends.  In fact, Ailis and I have a play date tomorrow afternoon, so that's something to look forward to.  I'm off to play some more myself, see if I can get a layout finished tonight.  Thanks for looking!

  1. Since I said that I popped over to your blog tonight 'cus of this card I guess I'd better leave a comment on it! LOL!
I think your gut instinct to outline your elements was a good one. It really finishes the card! Great job and good luck with the challenge!!
Glad to hear the kids are settling in well at the new school. Moving can be so tough!! Hope the rest of the unpacking goes well and you start finding all the lost items! I'd totally help if I was nearer!!

  2. It looks like the black did the trick because I think the card looks fabulous (:
We had meet the creature the other night too (: I'm happy that your kids are adjusting well!!! It makes things much easier (:
    Have a great weekend!!!

  3. Great card! Thanks for playing along with us this week at Drunken Stampers "For the Birds" challenge!!

  4. Great job on this card!! Thanks for playing with Drunken Stampers.

  5. I have really enjoyed looking back through all your posts that I missed this summer. Your work always inspires and amazes me. You are so talented!!! I hope you find your camera cord soon and I'm glad you are all settling in. Take Care and have a great week!!
