"Ten at 10" and a New Challenge

Well, I'm loving how this layout turned out, which is surprising considering how simple it is - just paper (all Echo Park), photos and alphas!  When I posted Nolan's 8th birthday layout, somebody asked how long it would be until I scrapped his 10th birthday.  Haha, normally it takes about 2 years, so this time I got on it right away, just to prove I could.  I "borrowed" (okay, "stole" is probably the proper word here, but shhhhh, don't tell!) the "Ten at 10" idea from my lovely British bloggy friend Carole, who recently did a Fifteen at 15 page for her son.  I have to tell ya, though, it was hard to come up with ten things.  Once I got started, it wasn't that bad.  It's definitely a great jumping off point if you want a unique journaling idea, especially when every birthday gathering starts to look the same.

Here's the sketch I used (an awesome one from Let's Capture these Sketches - yep, missed the deadline!):

And before I forget, did you see the new Seriously Creative Challenge?

I honestly don't know what's wrong with me these days.  I'm like a chicken with my head cut off half the time, it's amazing I'm even capable of getting dinner on the table most nights!  I can't believe I forgot to post this challenge at the beginning of the month!!!  Well, it's a great challenge, so I hope you'll join us - you still have lots of time.  Don't pull a Roxy and miss the deadline, though!

Love that you "borrowed" my idea, but now I feel bad because I also "borrowed" it from a pin I stumbled across on Pinterest!!!

Love this page! Love that you got it done in the right year too :) Sometimes pages don't need heaps of embellishments it is enough to let the photos and pretty papers do the talking, just as it is with this layout.

    Great job Roxy!

    Big hugs

  3. Kudos to you!! Feels good to get it done right away doesn't it?
Thanks for your kind words on my latest layout. I think the colour combo is just not my fav. I was trying to pull out the colours of Marley's shirt and hopefully minimize the horrible washed out look she had in the other pictures ... yup, I"m going to go with that! :) Love this sketch and what you did with it! May have to check out their site - not that I need another challenge to add to my plate or anything .... :)

Well, I think I've left my younger two in time out for about 10 minutes or so. I needed that time to cool off. Holy hell! They took a bucket of water into the playroom again to make a swimming pool for Barbie! Seriously?! How many times do I have to punish (ya, ya, "discipline") them for the same bloody transgression?!?!?! Sigh.

  4. Fabulous layout Rox!! It doesn't need anything but paper (: I love how you journalled around the outside (: I like the 10 at 10 idea. Maybe it will motivate me to do all of those birthday pics!! I don't know why but I hate scrapping birthday and Christmas pics???
