Do you remember Simple Scrapbooks magazine? I loved that one, and I was pretty sad when they closed shop a while ago. Anyway, I went to Smithers last week with my kids and my mom (shoe shopping for school, as you can't get anything decent here!) and I just HAD to go to the LSS of course (they were having a clearance sale - AWESOME!) and I found a Simple Scrapbooks special edition called "Scrapbook Play". It's filled with prompts to bring more fun to scrapbooking. So after reading it cover to cover, I decided that I'm going to try and do ALL of the prompts, starting now. This layout incorporates 3 prompts: Prompt #1 - journal around a photo block. Prompt #3 - Use a colour you avoid like the 24-hour flu (mint green for me! Doesn't it remind you of a hospital?) And Prompt #14 - tilt everything on your layout. If you look carefully, you'll see that nothing on this page is straight. I also tried a new technique with the little camera stamp. I picked up some colour from a stamp pad with my blender pen, then coloured in the image. It kind of makes a watercolour effect. So thanks again to Design Dollies for pushing my boundaries by getting me to use mint green (blech!) on a page, and if you're wondering what the heck this page is about, it chronicles my son's first foray into the world of photography! Looks like he needs a bit of practice, hee hee!

Cool layout Rox!! Congrats on going out of your comfort zone!! Don't you just love to see what the pictures the kids take look like?? It was even more fun when we used to have film and had to wait to see them (:
ReplyDeleteGood on you Roxy!! I'm totally with you on the mint green - I really had a hard time with this colour challenge, but in the end I loved the result! I think the yummy navy blue offsets it so nicely. You did a fab job with the combo ~ your page looks amazing!
